Turn It Into a Happy Home

"Vacation is what you take when you can't take what you've been taking any longer" --The Lion

After all is said and done, I feel like I need me some vacation. Six long months will do ... just so I can visit Mombasa's North & South Coasts for 5 months & then spend a month in either Bahia or at one of my dream places in Cuba. Wanna come along? Suggest a destination then pack a few Tshirts, 3 pairs of jeans, sun hat, swim suit/trunks, sandals, iPod (beg, borrow, steal but get one) & camera. Until then,....gotta turn this into a Happy Home>>>
PS: Just read this wonderful poem by Mshairi & realized that a trip to the Geerewol ceremony among the Woodabe in W. Africa won't be a bad idea either:) (updated May 25th,05)

NB: Tafsiri is now a bilingual blog thanks to all the love shown by fellow members of KBW. I appreciate u all. Ur welcome there as well. -akiey-

I like the wall hanging - very beautiful - where is it from?

The things on the table are so colourful and pretty.

I am also feeling the need for a 6 month vacation.

Right now I would settle for a hike to the top of Mount Kenya, backpacking through Central America and Eastern Europe and an afternoon in Stratford Upon Avon.

Oh.and may I please join you on your travels?

Yes, I too wanna come. Anything with greenery will do, my view of smog-soaked london and one green tree outside my house is toxic.

MJY- I havent been to Stratford upon Avon, I want to go too (there is a reason for this)

@ Mshairi: Sure, you should come along so we can also enjoy the music of Buena Vista Social Club & get to see where Celia Cruz grew up:)
Both Bahia & ‘Habana’ as they call it should be fun.
-The wall hanging is actually 3 separate pieces in one. Middle one is from Mombasa’s south coast while the remaining two I bought in a Mid-Eastern souvenir store in my state but made in Istanbul.
-Thanks for your kind words & hope Habana works out this time around:)!

@ Nick: Ala!? How would I leave out such a fun & spontaneous blogmate? Get packing bcoz it’s been a while for me too since I last was in Msa.
I know you’ll be at your best so I’ll have grandma save the best wali wa nazi & bhajias for you.

@ MJY: Thanks for the compliment. Body & mind need that vacation badd! Took this pic at dawn @ the end of what was a fun dinner nite with friends.
-Stuff as it appears here was not arranged for the pic. It was an exhibit of the mess the house was in. This is the same night I took this one while all was in order:- http://tafsiri.blogspot.com/2005/04/parmi-mes-top-5.html -:was also surprised that the colors on their clothes blended with the stuff on the table.
-I’ve never been mountain climbing & trekking across S. America is a must-do, only seen a little of W. Europe so bring along your (Belize) experience & recipes for your detox meals. The homemade tomato soup with salad and hummus would be great for starters.

@ Sunflower: You’re one who badly needs a vacation make-over :) As someone said: “No one needs a vacation more seriously than s/he who just got back from one”.
-I’ve been inspired by photos or documentaries & before I knew it I was packing to go some places. Wish I could do that more often. Ok, tayarisha kofia, sun lotion na mziki poa-poa. We’ll only hoot once, lol!

@ Afromusing: “If you dream it you can live it.” You’re more than welcome & this time no more photos of concerts I went to but will make sure you’re there in the thick of the crowd.
-Are you anywhere near Chi-town? I know a club that has wonderful Dub concerts. Refer to my Jan 16th blog post,it has the address & club name.

@ Maitha: Thanks, I checked out the translation site & I see why you wouldn’t recommend it for Tafsiri. Now you can all figure out what am up to when not on Maarifa. Feel free to stop by Tafsiri anytime.
-Asante kwa wazo lako. Hela lazima zije nyumbani zienue Kenya kwanza kabla visenti vidogo vitakavyobakia kurushwa kwengine.
Ni vile nilikuwa sikufafanua hizo “two coasts” ziko wapi.

–So we’ll have you taking a vacation back home as well. Utatuonyesha mazuri ya around Vasco da Gama na Watamu au sio? :)

@ Farmgal: Thanks & am flattered:) More the reason why I should own & not rent any more. That way I can remodel as much as I want.
There’s room for you too & as MJY hinted on your blog, get the ‘Espagnol’ book so we can all chat up in Cuba & elsewhere in Spanish-speaking S.America.
-As for Mombasa you know it’s Swa all the way so no worries:)

@ Guessaurus: Karibu tufunge safari. Pole about the less scenic view in your part of town. Let’s all hit Kenya 1st, view enuff rich, ‘greenery’ then hit out to the rest of the world by way of Stratford upon Avon, (courtesy of MJY)

@ Wanjiru: U know it’s impossible to leave you behind & am sure a little TLC from mummy will do you lots of good. Just remind her we’ll all be there too so to save some delicious Kenyn-style goodies we miss so much. Siamo sempre gli amichi alora io vado mai viaggiare senza tu,okay? :)
